Maddison, 25, was formally presented with a Three Lions shirt adorned with his new number by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales this week at St. George's Park in Burton. The England squad will fly out to Qatar for the 2022 contest this week. 

Foxes midfielder Maddison was called up by manager Gareth Southgate after following a 2021/22 campaign which involved him scoring 18 goals with another seven this term, as well as four assists in 2022/23. Last season's Leicester City Player of the Season has one cap to his name, won against Montenegro in 2019.

Elsewhere, City's three Belgium stars have also been handed their World Cup squad numbers. Wout Faes will wear No.4 in Qatar, while Youri Tielemans is No.8 and Timothy Castagne has been assigned with the No.21 shirt. For Wales, goalkeeper Danny Ward will adorn the No.12 jersey. Ghana's Daniel Amartey will wear No.18 and Senegal midfielder Papy Mendy is No.6.
