Carrie Jones confirms that confidence is still high despite falling to defeat to Manchester City at King Power Stadium last Saturday.

- LCFC Women beaten by Manchester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League
- Khadija Shaw and Chloe Kelly scored the decisive goals in the 2-0 defeat
- The Foxes face Liverpool on Sunday (2pm kick-off) in the WSL
- Carrie Jones claims they are ready to put on a show this weekend

The Foxes returned to Barclays Women’s Super League action last weekend when they welcomed Man City to Filbert Way but were eventually defeated by Gareth Taylor’s side after second half goals from Khadija Shaw and Chloe Kelly.

Currently on three points, Manchester United loanee Carrie Jones believes confidence is still strong, and that the squad isn’t fazed on the job in hand.

“I think we knew what we would come up against before coming into this game, and they showed their class in the final third,” the midfielder told LCFC TV. “But I think the performance we gave today was something to be proud of, and we can bring that into the next couple of weeks now.

“We had full belief coming into this game, that we could take something from it and that game in the Continental Tyres League Cup was evident of that. But we gave our all and that's all we can give, and the story of the day was that we lost.

“There's always what ifs, but I think Hannah [Cain] did well today, as she does every week, and it was a good save (from the forward's header on goal in the early stages of the game), so it just wasn't to be.”

Now three games without a win, the Foxes are keen to return to winning ways, and can bounce back this weekend, when they travel to Prenton Park to take on Liverpool on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

I think there's a lot more belief in the side, and I think since Willie's come in, it's been very positive.

“We know that next week's game is going to be a big one for us,” she continued. “But I don't think we should treat it like any other. It's the same, and we have full confidence from this performance that we can take into the next week and put on a good show.

“It’s been good since Willie [Kirk] has come in, and I think everyone is clear on their jobs and roles in the team, and I think the team environment is good.

“Spirits are high, and I think that shows in our performances as well. I think there's a lot more belief in the side, and I think since Willie's come in, it's been very positive.”
