Kelechi Iheanacho has called on Leicester City to maintain their recent run of form ahead of the trip to Manchester United this weekend.

- In-form forward Kelechi Iheanacho gives his take on the Foxes’ recent form
- He is confident of continuing that positive run of results this weekend

Old Trafford is the destination for Sunday’s 2pm kick-off in the Premier League, with Leicester in high spirits off the back of three consecutive wins across all competitions, the latter two containing eight top-flight goals.

For Iheanacho, who started and scored in all three of those matches, there is a real momentum building within the Foxes camp, as they bid to put a tough first half of the season behind them.

“I’m feeling good, it’s great,” he revealed to LCFC TV ahead of travelling to Manchester. “We’ve had a good run so I’m pretty happy with where we are at the minute. The whole squad is doing really well, so we’ll keep going.

“Hopefully I keep scoring more, assisting more and keep helping the team to get up the table, and we’ll still have a good run in the FA Cup so hopefully we get there.”

The forward’s 50th LCFC goal secured a passage into the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup at Walsall, before a goal and two assists during a scintillating first half at Villa Park earned City’s first league victory of 2023.

A fine record in front of goal continued back on Filbert Way, with Tottenham Hotspur put to the sword in part thanks to the 26-year-old's latest goal and assist, alongside the contributions of Harvey Barnes and new signing Tetê on either flank.

“Obviously we had a good feeling going into the Aston Villa game,” the Nigeria international explained. “And coming into the Spurs game as well, we did too. We were really training well for that and we had tough teams [to play], very strong opposition.

There’s a good feeling in the dressing room everywhere now, so hopefully we’ll keep that momentum going.

“We’re strong now as a squad going forward. All we need to do is just keep doing the right things and be strong to win games, so it’s really coming [together] now, we need to just hang in there and keep winning.

“It’s good to have fast and quality wingers in the team as a striker, so you can be free to get in the box and come down to link the play as well. It benefits us the strikers very well. Hopefully they keep doing what they are doing and we keep doing what we’re doing as well.”

Leicester’s next opponents have looked strong of late themselves and are also unbeaten in three league games. While acknowledging the challenge awaiting against Erik ten Hag’s side, Iheanacho, who scored on his last visit to Old Trafford, is confident in the team’s abilities on the road, especially with the Blue Army’s backing in the North West behind them.

Iheanacho's goal helped seal a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last season.

The ex-Manchester City striker added: “We’re preparing really well. There’s a good feeling in the dressing room everywhere now, so hopefully we’ll keep that momentum going and I know it’s going to be a big game for us. Man Utd are really doing well and it will be a tough game.

“But hopefully we will stand up to it and we’ll do what we’ve been doing and be strong. Hopefully we will go there and get something out of that game. We’ll do our best.

“They (the fans) were very loud supporting us at Villa Park, they really gave everything to show their support. At home as well against Spurs they were really loud so that’s what we need from them. Hopefully they will keep supporting us, and we will keep winning.”
