Callum Doyle played for England Under-21s in a big Azerbaijan victory while Ben Nelson came off the bench to score for the England Elite League Squad.

It was a good start to the weekend for the Foxes involved within the England setup as both defenders Doyle and Nelson found themselves on the winning side for two different squads in the Three Lions' setup.

Centre-half Doyle was named in the starting line-up for England's Under-21s, and played the full game as they beat Azerbaijan 5-1 in the UEFA U21 Championship Qualifier; Liverpool's Harvey Elliot scoring twice to leave England second in Group F, with five wins from six games.

Academy graduate Nelson was also on the winning end of a 5-1 scoreline, beating Poland with the Elite League Squad. Although he didn't start the game, his 20 minute cameo was a positive one, scoring in the 86th minute - his first at international level - after replacing Peterborough United's Ronnie Edwards. Tottenham Hotspur youngster Dane Scarlett netted a hat-trick at Bialystok City Stadium.

A friendly between Nigeria and Ghana saw three City players involved as Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi both started for the Super Eagles, who beat Abdul Fatawu's Black Stars 2-1, as former Fox Ademola Lookman scored the decisive goal inside the final 10 minutes, before Fatawu's late injury-time introduction.

Yunus Akgün features for Turkey against Hungary.

The final match of the day saw Turkey take on Hungary at the Puskás Aréna in friendly action. Yunus Akgün started the game and lasted 76 minutes in Budapest, but was unable to impact a narrow 1-0 defeat for his side; Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai scoring an early second-half penalty to separate the sides.
