The Leicester City centre-back was named in Graham Arnold's starting XI at CommBank Stadium in Western Sydney, where a goal in each half from first Keanu Baccus and then Kye Rowles saw the Socceroos chalk up another victory in their quest for a place at a sixth successive World Cup - this time the 2026 edition in USA, Canada and Mexico.

Following a third Group I triumph in the second stage of Asia qualifying, Australia remain top of the pool and have opened up a seven point gap back to Lebanon, who are ranked 115th in the current FIFA world rankings.
Souttar has the opportunity to play again on Tuesday when the pair meet once more, this time in Canberra, with the Socceroos able to progress to the third round of qualifying via a victory.
Later on Thursday, meanwhile, goalkeeper Ward started between the sticks for his country as they triumphed over Finland in the UEFA EURO 2024 Play-Off Semi-Finals at Cardiff City Stadium.

The hosts netted twice more in the second half, however, to put the game beyond doubt - Brennan Johnson and Daniel James the scorers in the Welsh capital.
Wales will now host Poland in the play-off final on Tuesday evening, with a place at this summer's flagship European tournament on offer for the winner of that tie.
