Leicester City's Development Squad will contest the 2017/18 season in Premier League 2 Division 1 after a 4-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur, coupled with results elsewhere, confirmed their survival.

On Thursday, the Foxes emerged from White Hart Lane with their fifth league victory of the campaign courtesy of two goals apiece from Harvey Barnes and Josh Gordon. After Southampton's 4-2 defeat by Manchester City on Friday, City's top-flight position was finally assured for another season.

Reading, who sit bottom, must beat Sunderland at home on Monday and hope for an 11-goal swing to join City in the top-flight next term. For the Foxes, however, memorable victories against Reading, Tottenham (home and away), Derby County and Arsenal were enough to retain their top tier status.

Upwards of 40 players have featured for the Development Squad in Premier League 2 Division 1 this year while many have also represented the Club in the UEFA Youth League (Under-19s), Checkatrade Trophy, Premier League Cup and Premier League International Cup over the past 10 months.

Through City’s player-centred focus and ‘Committed to Excellence’ technical programme, the Club pledges to provide a first-class football experience for players between eight and 23-years-old – and the best chance of following in the footsteps of Academy graduates Andy King and Ben Chilwell
