Leicester City’s Darnell Johnson played the full 90 minutes as England booked their place in the Final of the UEFA U19 Euros with a thrilling last-gasp 1-0 victory over Czech Republic on Wednesday.

- Darnell Johnson impressed again as England reached the UEFA U19 Euros Final
- The young Lions defeated Czech Republic courtesy of Lukas Nmecha's late strike
- Johnson was making his second appearance of the tournament in Georgia this summer
- The young City man was a key figure for the Club's Development Squad last season

The 18-year-old Foxes defender made his first appearance at the tournament as a sixth minute substitute during a 4-1 success over Germany on Sunday which ensured the young Lions won Group B with maximum points. On Wednesday in Tbilisi, Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha scored an audacious, backheeled winner with seconds to spare for Keith Downing’s men.

During an often fraught and tense affair, chances were few and far between but England commanded the ball well and looked defensively solid throughout, with Johnson delivering another assured performance on the international stage. England will take on Portugal, who overcame the Netherlands in the semi-finals, in the showpiece at Gori Stadium on Saturday 15 July (5pm kick-off).

Full back Darnell Johnson is a European champion at U19s level and has been promoted to the U20s.

Johnson was a key figure in the Club’s Main Cup triumph at the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens in Hong Kong earlier this summer and featured often for the Under-23s in Premier League 2 Division 1 last term.

The City man's progress with the U19s in Georgia is just the latest landmark success for young English talent on the books at King Power Stadium this summer. Earlier, Harvey Barnes won the Golden Boot at the U20s Toulon Tournament while defender Elliott Moore also contributed to the cause in France. This month, Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray excelled too as the U21s reached the Euros semi-finals.
