The new Foxes boss, who signed a deal until June 2020, will take charge of his maiden Premier League fixture at King Power Stadium for the visit of Everton on Sunday (4pm kick-off).

City have won their last two matches in all competitions and Puel, speaking to the international media on Friday, emphasised how important it is to keep confidence flowing.

“This squad have had fantastic moments over a few years,” the Frenchman said.

“They have also had low moments too, at the beginning of this season, but it is important to have consistency. For the moment the most important thing is to stay focused on Everton.

“It is a special match, they have changed their manager and, for me, it is my first game as manager. The two last games, we had two wins which is good for confidence.

The Club is my colours now. I think about the badge and I defend the values of the Club, of the city.

“We need to keep the good levels of confidence. I will try to get to know my players and my staff. We have just two days to keep this squad confident and keep this good feeling.

“We will see step-by-step if we can change something about the structure.

“I think it’s important to have this experience. I know the Premier League. It is a different system with different teams. Every season it improves.”

The responsibility of managing Leicester City is not lost on the former AS Monaco, Lille, Lyon, Nice and Southampton boss and he admitted his enthusiasm to get started.

“The Club is my colours now,” he added. “I think about the badge and I defend the values of the Club, of the city.

Claude Puel takes a training session at Belvoir Drive.

“The ambition for the owners is to keep a good spirit of the team like the two last results. With confidence we can work in training sessions with a good atmosphere.

“We will see this for the future to work on details and work in training to do good work. We want to keep this confidence and good spirit to try and get a result against Everton.”
