Under Roy Hodgson, Palace are now six games without a loss following Tuesday evening’s late victory against Watford.

Highlighting the Eagles’ threats, Puel believes his side must put in a determined performance if the Blue Army are to witness a fifth-consecutive Premier League triumph.

Puel said: “Of course, I think this team has come back at a good level with quality and good results also. It’s not a team in the relegation zone.

The Frenchman oversees a training session at Belvoir Drive.

“It’s a good strong team with good structure in their play. The work of their manager has seen them improve and they have good players in good positions. [Wilfried] Zaha, [Andros] Townsend, [Yohan] Cabaye – they are all good players.

“I haven’t played against his teams but I know what he can do. He’s a fantastic manager and I can see this with this team. They are at a high level in the Premier League. It will be a strong, difficult challenge for us.”

Puel enjoyed Wednesday evening’s 4-1 win at former club Southampton and has now challenged his side to put in a similar display against Palace.

It’s a good result but it’s important to continue this work. It’s not the half of the season. It’s just a good moment and we need to continue this good work.

He added: “We must maintain this moment, but also continue to make hard work on the pitch, not just see the position in this moment.

“We want to see whether we can find a good place in the table at the end. We need to keep a good focus about our game.

“We must not be satisfied just about this game (Southampton). It’s a good result but it’s important to continue this work. It’s not the half of the season. It’s just a good moment and we need to continue this good work.”
