Claude Puel says Shinji Okazaki could be sidelined for up to two weeks ahead of Saturday’s visit to Manchester City (5:30pm kick-off).

- Leicester City manager Claude Puel says Shinji Okazaki is unavailable to face Manchester City
- The Japan international has sustained an injury to his knee and could be out for a fortnight
- Captain Wes Morgan is also out of the clash at Etihad Stadium with a hamstring issue
- The Foxes skipper picked up the injury during the 3-0 success over Huddersfield Town last month

The Foxes boss says the Japan international striker received a ‘little’ knock and is certainly out of the trip to face Pep Guardiola’s Premier League leaders at Etihad Stadium.

“[There has been a] little injury with Okazaki, he will not be available,” Puel told the press on Thursday. “He received a kick on his knee and I think he won’t be available for two weeks.”

Meanwhile, captain Wes Morgan (hamstring) is nearing a return after being substituted during the 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on New Year’s Day.

The 34-year-old defender has been involved in training at Belvoir Drive over the past week but this weekend’s clash with the four-time champions will be too soon.

“I think it’s not for the moment, he is not match fit to come back but it’s encouraging, of course, that he can come back this week in training session,” Puel added.

“He has had two good training sessions with quality and he will continue to improve and win more density in his play and we’ll see when he can come back into the squad.”
