City opened their 2018/19 campaign with a trip to Manchester United, but an intrepid display wasn't enough to stop them losing out 2-1 at Old Trafford.

However, Claude Puel's men will have been pleased by their performance and they followed it up with a 2-0 King Power Stadium victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Foxes head to St Mary's Stadium this Saturday to tackle the Saints in their second away game of the new season - and Silva is confident of picking up a positive result (3pm BST kick-off).

"[It’s a] tough, tough game because they want to achieve their first victory," he said. "We started well at home, now we have got our first victory, after a good first game at United.

"We didn’t get the three points that I think we deserved but we reacted very well in the second game and now we want to continue in this way.

"Of course, we want to play like that everywhere, on every pitch, and it doesn’t matter about the difficulty of the opponent, but we have focus now on Southampton to do better."

Silva was pleased to get a first win of the campaign in the bag against Wolves, but is already looking ahead to securing another success on the south coast this weekend.

"There were details in this game that were very important for us, we got a good reward at home and our fans supported us as always," he continued.

"It was fantastic to give them this win so it was a good challenge and we did well without conceding a goal and that’s important for the team.

"Under this difficult moment, how we reacted was very good."
