The Foxes agreed terms with Sporting Clube de Portugal for the transfer of Adrien Silva on 31 August, 2017, but the midfielder could not make his debut until the completion of his registration as a Leicester City player on 1 January, 2018.
Since his professional debut at the age of 18, Silva made well over 200 appearances for Sporting Lisbon across eight seasons in the Portuguese top flight, picking up five trophies and being handed the captain’s armband along the way.
He has also played 20 times at senior international level for Portugal since his debut in 2014, including a start in the Euro 2016 final, during which he helped his side to the title courtesy of a 1-0 extra-time victory over host nation France.
Silva made his first appearance in Leicester City colours on New Year’s Day 2018 as a second-half substitute during the 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at King Power Stadium.
A popular figure under Claude Puel, Silva made in total 16 appearances for the Foxes in 2017/18 and was selected in Portugal's 23-man set-up for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
