The Foxes agreed terms with Sporting for the transfer of Silva on 31 August, 2017, but the midfielder could not make his debut until the completion of his registration as a Leicester player on 1 January, 2018.
Since his professional debut at the age of 18, Silva made well over 200 appearances for Lisbon across eight seasons in the Portuguese top flight, picking up five trophies and being handed the captain’s armband.
He has also played 26 times for Portugal since his debut in 2014, including in their triumphant 2016 UEFA European Championship Final appearance, before also starring at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Silva made his first appearance in Leicester City colours on New Year’s Day 2018 as a second-half substitute during the 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at King Power Stadium.
A popular figure under former Foxes manager Claude Puel, Silva made a total of 16 appearances for the Foxes in 2017/18 and another two outings in 2018/19 before heading to France on loan to Monaco.
Over two spells with the Ligue 1 side, the Portugal international has made 33 appearances, regularly impressing alongside Foxes colleague - and fellow Monaco loanee - Islam Slimani at Stade Louis II.
