The Club’s Under-23s recorded their third consecutive clean sheet on Monday night as Josh Knight’s first-half header sealed all three points at the Amex Elite Football Performance Centre.

City are now up to sixth in the Premier League 2 standings ahead of their home fixture with Chelsea at Holmes Park on Monday 17 December (7pm GMT kick-off).

Assistant Senior Professional Development Phase Coach Petty said of Leicester’s win at Brighton: “We’re delighted with the win. That’s three clean sheets in a row, we’ve just talked about that in the dressing room.

"A few little mistakes have been creeping in and we’ve been letting sloppy goals in, but I think tonight you saw the tenacity and the willingness for the lads to keep the clean sheet.

"We deserved the three points overall."

Petty went on to credit Knight, who has now scored in back-to-back games having netted the winner against Sparta Prague B earlier this month.

It was a good set-play goal, which we work on a lot, so it’s always good to see it come off. It was a worthy goal to win the game.

"It’s a great attribute to have for Josh, and he’s a really good finisher," added Petty. "I thought him and DJ (Darnell Johnson) were excellent tonight at the back alongside Yohan [Benalouane].
