Speaking to the national media on Friday, Claude Puel confirmed that Evans will miss the clash with Ralph Hasenhüttl’s rejuvenated Saints this weekend.

“Jonny will not be available,” he revealed. “He has broken his little toe. We will try to manage this situation in the next few weeks and we will see when he can return.

“Concerning the other players, I don’t think we have any other problems.”

Daniel Amartey, however, is still continuing his recovery after sustaining an ankle injury in October's 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

“Daniel has had surgery,” said Puel in November. “It was a success, but he will not be available normally for four months.”
