As Leicester City prepare to meet Barclays Premier League champions Chelsea on Monday night, Foxes skipper Wes Morgan has no doubts that his team deserve to be at the summit.

Morgan and his team-mates have been on a stunning run of form throughout the first 15 games of the campaign and are currently enjoying the view from the top of the league – two points clear of second placed Arsenal.

City’s surge to the top of the pile is in stark contrast to the fortunes of Chelsea, who are 17 points adrift of the Foxes, however they remain the champions and most definitely remain a force to be reckoned with as they seek to climb the table.

For Morgan though, he’s focused on Leicester City’s fortunes and whether they can maintain the kind of performance levels that have seen them become the talk of the league.

<div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“Just to say that [Leicester are top] is amazing,’ Morgan told Foxes Player HD. “We’ve done well so far and I’m sure people are surprised that we’re actually here but we definitely deserve to be here. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“We’ve played some fantastic stuff this season and we just want to keep the run going. We don’t want to get too carried away but at the same time we need to enjoy what we’ve achieved so far. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“We can’t get too carried away. We’re in December, a third of the way through the season but we know how quickly things can change. We just want to stay grounded, stay confident and keep playing well.” </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >While the exploits of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in front of goal have caught the eye, the solid defensive displays that have been produced of late have proved just as key. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >Last time out Mahrez scored all three goals as City sunk Swansea City 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium – their third clean sheet of the campaign. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >Morgan added: “The Swansea result was a great result. The whole team played well and it was one of those performances that was a complete performance. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“Riyad got a hat-trick, the defence kept a clean sheet and we outplayed Swansea. To do that at Swansea is an achievement in itself. It just goes to show how far we’ve got and how good we actually are. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“[Defensively] We are just trying to gel. There have been a few different players in different positions in the defence and we’re just trying to get to know each other’s games and it took us a few games to establish that. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div ><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">“We’re probably at the point now where we know what our strengths and weaknesses are and we’ve kept a couple of clean sheets but we want to keep a lot more.”</span></span></div><div ><a href="http://www.player.lcfc.com" target="_blank"><img xlink:href="tcm:0-2692753" title="PlayerHD2015_Banner" alt="PlayerHD2015_Banner" style="width: 480px; height: 100px;" /></a><br /></div>
