Leicester City signed Algeria international Slimani from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in August 2016, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at King Power Stadium until 2021.

An international colleague of former City team-mate Riyad Mahrez, the 6ft 2ins striker boasts an impressive goalscoring record for Algeria since his debut in 2012.

Having been signed by Sporting from Algerian side CR Belouizdad in 2013, Slimani’s form saw him reach a total of 27 goals in just 33 games during the 2015/16 Portuguese top-flight campaign.

Slimani’s success at Sporting Lisbon on the goalscoring front enabled them to secure one third-place and two second-place finishes in his three full seasons at the club, netting 56 goals during that time.

The frontman made his debut for City in the UEFA Champions League against Club Brugge in September 2016, before netting his first goals - a brace against Burnley - just three days later.

His most memorable Foxes goal is perhaps his winning header against old rivals FC Porto to help his Leicester to a 1-0 Champions League group stage triumph.

Over more recent campaigns, the Algiers-born striker has enjoyed loan spells at Newcastle United, Fenerbahçe and, in 2019/20, Monaco, where he scored nine league goals in 18 outings.
