Exciting midfielder Khanya Leshabela joined the Foxes' Academy in March 2013. Nominated for the Academy Player of the Year Award in 2017/18 after a season with the Under-18s, the South African has since continued his progression at Under-21 level in recent seasons.
He caught the eye with a stunning Premier League Cup strike against Nottingham Forest earlier in that campaign and also represented the Football Club three times in the 2016/17 UEFA Youth League.
In fine form for the Development Squad during the 2018/19 season, his performances earned him a place in the senior squad for a Carabao Cup game against Southampton in November.
The youngster signed a new long-term deal with the Club in January 2019, subsequently making his Premier League bow as a substitute in a 5-0 home win over Sheffield United in March 2021.
Also on the bench for several UEFA Europa League fixtures across 2020/21, the following season saw Leshabela loaned out to Shrewsbury Town, making a total of nine appearances for the Sky Bet League 1 outfit, including debuting in the Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup, before returning in January 2022.
Reintegrated into the Development Squad for the second half of the campaign, he was an experienced head within the young side, prior to another loan move at the start of 2022/23. A total of 13 appearances, including 10 in League 2, followed, prior to his return to Leicester, slotting straight back into central midfield for the remainder of the season.
