Head of Recruitment
Eduardo joined Leicester City in September 2016 as the clubs Head of Senior Player Recruitment. He is responsible for managing the recruitment department and implementing the short, medium and long-term player transfer strategy.
He is responsible for working alongside the Manager and Director of football to identify prospective transfer targets. Under the management of the Director of Football he is accountable for setting up the first initial steps in the transfer strategy.
Eduardo is a former academy and development squad player at Valencia having to retire early due to injury. He has over 20 years experience working within the top level of professional football. He started his career as a senior scout at Valencia and progressed during 10 years to become Head of Recruitment, and then Sport Director and Football Operations Advisor, as a Non-Executive member of the Board Room.
He joined Liverpool as Head of Recruitment in 2006 becoming the Technical Director after 2 years. He spent almost five successful seasons at Liverpool, moving to Olympiakos in 2011 as Technical Director where he spent one season. In November 2011 he joined ACF Fiorentina as Football Operations Manager and Technical Director where he spent another four successful seasons. Prior to joining Leicester City he worked for Real Betis as Sport Director and Head of Football Operations, where after promotion to La Liga they maintained their league status with one of the lowest budgets during administration control.
Eduardo is renowned in professional football for his ability to set up long-term football strategies and develop recruitment policies.
Head of Sports Science and Performance Analysis
Paul is responsible for the development and enhancement of the sports science and performance analysis support offered to the first team professional players and coaching staff at the club.
Using an integrated proactive approach to the scientific management of player development, the aim is to improve individual and team performance. Paul graduated with a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, in 1995.
He also currently works for the Swedish National Team where he is responsible for sports science and performance analysis support.
Paul joined Leicester in 2008 and is enjoying his second spell with the Foxes having re-joined the Club in December 2011.
Senior First Team Performance Analyst
Andy is responsible for utilising various modes of technology to provide information to the manager, coaching staff, and players.
Primarily focusing on upcoming opponents, Andy produces detailed reports for the coaching staff, and also pre-match presentations to be delivered to the players, along with other information to assist with match preparation.
On match days, Andy is involved in the live analysis, communicating with the manager and coaching staff to review key events, and preparing footage to be relayed at half-time and full-time.
This work then feeds in to the post-match analysis processes. A Sport and Exercise Science graduate from the University of Bath, Andy has been at the Club since the start of the 2008 season, having previously worked for Hawk-Eye Innovations, and undertaken a work placement at Reading Football Club.
First Team Performance Analyst
Pete is responsible for providing post-match video and statistical feedback to staff and players. Pete produces different forms of individual, unit and team feedback to be delivered to the players following each match.
His role also involves collating in-house performance data and information from external data providers. Pete then analyses and presents the data to individual players and the coaching team. Over the course of the season, trends and performance benchmarks are generated and presented using a variety of engaging outputs.
Looking for ways to incorporate the latest technology into the coaching and analysis environment also plays a big part of his role. Pete joined the club in November 2011, initially in a student-intern role, and is now into his fourth season as a full-time member of staff.
Pete is currently completing an MSc in Performance Analysis in Cardiff. Prior to his role at LCFC, he received a 1st class Hons degree in Sports Coaching which was also completed in South Wales.
Head of Technical Scouting and Scouting Co-ordinator
As the Head of Technical Scouting, Ollie is responsible for organising and scheduling the Club scouts into fixtures (Senior to U23). He also scouts games live (domestically and throughout Europe) as part of the senior scouting decision-making process.
He is accountable for managing targets' reports, videos, statistics and profiles. Working under the management of Eduardo Macia he will present prospective transfer targets to the Manager and Director of Football.
Ollie previously worked for Leicester City back in the 2012/13 season as the Academy's Head of Performance Analysis and Recruitment. Having previously worked for Huddersfield Town and AFC Bournemouth.
After the 2012/13 season, he was approached and went on to join Birmingham City as Head of Performance Analysis and Recruitment for their first team.
Following working with Birmingham City, he had the opportunity to work out in Qatar, working for their FA and being responsible for the Performance Analysis, Recruitment and GPS Data. Here he was able to appreciate football in a different culture, before being asked to re-join Leicester City in May 2015.
First Team Training & Performance Analysis
Matt is responsible for the day-to-day tactical and technical analysis of training. He works closely with coaching staff to provide video feedback to help implement game plans and monitor performance.
His role also involves the analysis of set plays, creating interactive reports about upcoming opposition, and carrying out trend analysis on our own performance as well as other teams in the world.
Matt brings a wealth of experience to Leicester, following six years at Aston Villa Football Club where he had been responsible for the provision of analysis services for both the Academy and First Team. He also holds a BSc Hons in Sports Coaching Science and a MSc in Performance Analysis.
First Team Technical Scout
Callum’s role at Leicester City is to assist the Club's Head of Technical Scouting in providing analytical insights into the performances of prospective transfer targets.
Using his technical knowledge, Callum is able to collate both in-house and external statistical data to generate monthly reports and comparisons on potential signings. He then analyses the data further in order to compile detailed individual statistical reports. Callum will also scout games live and via video analysis to develop both an objective and subjective view on prospective targets.
Having originally joined the department in July 2015, he moved to a full time position following a successful internship period. Prior to the role, Callum obtained a First Class degree in Mathematics and Sports Science at the University of Birmingham.
First Team & U23 Technical Scout
José is responsible for assisting the Club’s Head of Technical Scouting in identifying and providing analytical insights into the performances of prospective First Team and U23 transfer targets.
José uses his technical and tactical knowledge to help identify, profile and monitor players both domestically and abroad. He is also responsible for tracking players in the U23 remit. This involves frequently scouting live matches, editing video footage and aiding in the generation of in-house statistical data.
He joined the club in September of 2016. He left the investment banking industry to pursue a career in professional football, having since worked for Leixões SC and Boavista FC in Portugal. He is multi-lingual in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
Before joining Leicester City, Jose obtained a degree in Management Studies at the University of Nottingham and a postgraduate in High Performance Football Coaching at the University of Lisbon. He is currently completing a Masters in High Performance Sports Coaching at the University of Lisbon as well his UEFA A license.
U23 Recruitment Officer
Tom’s role in the department is to scout and identify players in the Under-23 and Academy age groups. Tom will link in with the senior members of the Recruitment Department and also the Club’s Under-23 coaches.
He also keeps an up to date knowledge on the non-league circuit, working with the Club’s non-league scouts identifying any outstanding talent.
Tom will use his scouting experience to target younger players coming through the system and will attend relevant fixtures. He keeps an up-to-date database on potential target players for Leicester City.
He joined the department in January 2017 having previously worked for six years at Birmingham City Football Club. He held the roles of academy scout, academy elite scout and finally for three years was the National scout leading recruitment in the Under-16, 18 and 23 age brackets for the Midlands area.
Tom worked for 15 years as a Police Officer with West Midlands Police before taking a career path change into professional football.
