Currently sat eighth in the WSL standings heading into the weekend, Leicester will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after falling to a narrow Spurs defeat last time out.

Petermann shared her thoughts on the loss at Brisbane Road, labelling it a frustrating afternoon which saw them drop a spot in the standings.

“I think frustration is the best word to describe the Spurs game because we know we can do better, and it wasn’t our best game,” the striker told LCFC.com. “But we have to keep in mind that even though we didn’t perform well, we still could’ve won.

“In the first half, we had so many good chances by pressing high, but the final pass wasn’t on point. If it was then I think we could’ve won the game, so that’s why it was frustrating.

“We didn’t win the important duels, and we weren’t aggressive enough during the game – we know we can do better, and we won’t let it happen again.”

City's No.9 hopes to return to full fitness over the coming weeks.

The German forward looked ahead to this weekend’s match against Brighton and believes the team remain in good spirits and ready to welcome the south coast side to King Power Stadium.

She went on to talk about her road to recovery following a four-week spell on the sideline but admits it may take time to get fully up and running again, and back to scoring goals for the team which she craves.

“Training has been good, and we had a good start into the week,” Petermann continued. “We have a game plan and we know where their (Brighton’s) weaknesses are, that we hope to exploit.

“We’re confident heading into the weekend and we should be. We know what we can do and we’re confident of playing well, and we want to get back to winning ways.

“It would be great to score again. I’m coming back from an injury so I’m trying to get back onto the right track but sometimes that can take time to get back to full fitness and potential.

“But there will be more to come from me. I know I have the team behind me so I know these good moments will come again.”

Setting Up For Seagulls Test

Recent training from Belvoir Drive as LCFC Women look towards a Barclays Women's Super League match against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The summer signing scored a fantastic left-footed effort in the reverse fixture back in December but explains how the team should’ve held on to all three points from their winning position before Elisabeth Terland found the net twice in the last 10 minutes.

Feeling a better connection within the team as the season has progressed, the former Montpellier striker believes that the Foxes are in a better space now to attack this fixture.

“It was frustrating the last time we played them,” Petermann voiced. “We were 2-0 up and we need to keep that score and take the three points home.

“But now we are stronger defensively and are more compact as a team and you can see that we’ve grown since last year when we were conceding late goals.

“There’s a better connection in the team now and I feel like we’re stronger and better in our actions and working better to get the results we need.”
