Two Kings In Leicester!

The quest to keep the remains of Richard III in Leicester has received a timely boost this week, with a current ‘King’ of Leicester backing the city’s bid.

Leicester City midfielder Andy King is the latest big name to show his support for Leicester’s claim to the remains of the former Monarch, discovered under a city car park a year ago.

And the Wales international midfielder, an adopted son of Leicester having graduated from the Club’s Academy, has urged supporters to do the same by adding their names to the .

“I’ve lived in Leicester for eight years now and I can’t remember many stories as big as this. It brought the world’s media into the city,” Kingy said.

“Leicester has always been a city very proud of its history and the discovery of Richard III is now part of that. It’s an incredible story and one that should not be taken away from the city that gave it to the world.”

Leicester is facing strong competition from the city of York to host the site for the former monarch’s re-interment. The battle for support comes after High Court judge, Mr Justice Haddon-Cave, ruled that public opinion should be taken into account when deciding where King Richard’s remains should be laid to rest.

The Foxes are therefore urging all supporters and the people of the city to pledge their backing to Leicester’s claim, by signing the Leicester Mercury’s petition to keep the king in Leicester .

To show its support for Leicester’s bid, City have rereleased the popular ‘100% LEICESTER’ Richard III t-shirt, which is now on sale from the City Fanstore at King Power Stadium, priced £12.
