Pearson Aims To Maintain Winning Run

City boss Nigel Pearson has warned his side that they will need to overcome a variety of different obstacles to maintain their impressive run in the npower Championship.

Pearson’s side tackle Bristol City at King Power Stadium on Saturday, looking to maintain their 100 per cent home record and register a fifth league win on the bounce.

Recent results, including Tuesday’s win at Huddersfield, have seen City climb to second in the table and a win over the Robins would send them top, at least until Saturday evening.

But as they begin to string results together, Pearson says his side will need to prepare for opponents to vary their tactics, particularly as they look to blemish the Foxes’ faultless sequence at home.

“We’ve overcome most obstacles teams have put in front of us this season,” Pearson said.

“Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to break teams down and patience is required - the Burnley game was a good example of that.

“But whatever teams present, we’ve got to try to find the answers. We’re fortunate in that we have a number of options in terms of attacking threats, but we’ve got to make sure we continue to work hard defensively.

“They players have worked exceptionally hard in games and that’s always a good starting point.

“We want to keep our run going and go into the international break on a high. We’ve got ourselves into a good position in the league and Bristol City is our next chance to keep that run going.”

Derek McInnes’ Bristol City have had a mixed start to the season – posing a genuine threat going forward, but struggling to keep clean sheets at the other end.

And while the bookies may have the Foxes at a short price to extend a run that has seen the Robins win just one of their last six games, Pearson expects a difficult test against a side that completed the double over his team last term.

“Derek’s done a good job there and I expect it to be a pretty tough game for us,” Pearson said.

“I think they will be difficult to break down at times and they have some attacking options.

“We need to make sure our game is right and that we have fully recovered from midweek to make sure we’re ready for this game.

“We’ve got to go out there and make it happen, like we have done of late. The players should be upbeat, but we need to go out and do the job in a professional manner.”
