Albrighton: A Great Week

- Marc Albrighton reflects positively on last week’s triumphs over Sevilla and West Ham United 

- The Foxes qualified for the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals and also moved six points clear of the Premier League’s bottom three 

- Albrighton wants his team-mates to return from the international break fully refreshed 

Winger hailed his Leicester City team-mates after they helped register two huge results last week. 

The Foxes successfully overturned a to qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a 2-0 win over Sevilla on Tuesday, before a at West Ham United followed four days later. 

Working tireless in both games, Craig Shakespeare’s men successfully set up a massive last-eight European tie with Atletico Madrid, while their win at the London Stadium opened up a six point gap to 18th-placed Hull City. 

Reflecting on a successful few days, Albrighton said: “It’s been a great week for us. We knew coming to West Ham that the result was the most important thing. 

“The performance wasn’t fantastic in the second half. We had to dig in and play scrappy at times but we’re willing to do that and if it gets us the three points then that’s the main thing. 

“The Sevilla game really did take it out of us. It was a hard game and had to do a lot of running to cover a lot of ground. 

“Emotionally, to have qualified was fantastic, but we know that we’ve got to be able to go again at the weekend and we did that.” 

Albrighton is hoping his team-mates return from the international break fully recharged ahead of a busy fixture schedule in April. 

He added: “To have got the three points and to have taken it into a big break like this is important because that’s what you dwell on over the next two weeks. 

“It’s come at a good time for us because we’ve had a lot of games so it’s good to get this break now and we’ll come back fully refreshed for the next game.”
