Ben Chilwell was left frustrated at full-time on Saturday after Leicester City were narrowly at Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.

Craig Shakespeare’s men impressed in Manchester but found themselves 2-0 down after 36 minutes. David Silva gave Man City the lead from close range, before Gabriel Jesus converted a penalty to double his side’s advantage.

A brilliantly-worked move, capped off by an emphatic finish from Shinji Okazaki, saw the Foxes pull one back just before the break and while opportunities to equalise followed, City couldn’t breach Pep Guardiola’s defence for a second time in the game.

“It was disappointing to go two goals down in the first half because I thought we started the game well,” after the defeat.

“To get one back before half-time gave us massive confidence going into the second half and obviously our second-half performance speaks for itself. We were unlucky not to get a result.

We had chances as well. We didn’t put them away in the second half but it was a good performance.

“Man City knew that we would come out in the second half knowing that we’re only one goal away from a result in the second half.

“We showed everyone here that we’re a good team as well because we limited Man City to their chances. We had chances as well. We didn’t put them away in the second half but it was a good performance.”

Chilwell says he enjoyed being involved in an entertaining duel with England international winger Raheem Sterling on City’s left flank.

He added: “It started quite early in the first half when we were grappling at each other and the crowd were backing him for the fouls.

“It was a good battle between two English lads that want to do well in front of the crowd. When you’re on the pitch, you give it everything.”
