Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy have been ranked 7th and 8th respectively in the Ballon d’Or vote after scoring 41 goals between them as the Club won the Premier League title last season.

The prestigious award, which crowns the best player in the world and is voted for by journalists, was ultimately won by Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo for the fourth time but the inclusion of Mahrez and Vardy in the top-10 acknowledges their achievements during the 2015/16 campaign.

The 17 goals scored by Mahrez and the 24 that Vardy netted in the Premier League last season propelled Leicester towards a historic first league title in their 132-year-history just two years after winning promotion from the Sky Bet Championship.

Mahrez, who was also named the BBC African Footballer of the Year on Monday 12 December, was presented with the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award in May. Vardy, on the other hand, was crowned Premier League Player of the Season.

Algerian international Mahrez has continued his fine domestic form into the UEFA Champions League this year with four goals to help City qualify for the last-16, where they will face Sevilla, as Group G winners.

Vardy, meanwhile, famously scored his first Club hat-trick during the 4-2 victory against Manchester City on Saturday 10 December, 2016 as well as hitting the back of the net for England against Spain in November following the European Championship in France this summer.
