Morgan: Fantastic To Be Here

- The skipper says that a week’s training in the sunshine has helped put the team on track for the new campaign in terms of fitness 

- City face the French champions at StubHub Center on Saturday night 

- Morgan believes the squad aren’t dwelling on last season, just focused on starting the new campaign well 

With a match against Paris Saint-Germain to look forward to on Saturday night, Leicester City skipper Wes Morgan says the squad are well on track for the new campaign. 

The team headed out to Los Angeles for the 2016 International Champions Cup clash last Sunday and have put in the hard yards during a productive and tough week of training in the sunshine at the StubHub Center. 

The skipper will now lead the team against the French champions on Saturday, and reflecting back on the difference between the calibre of opposition this season compared to last, Morgan admitted that lots has changed. 

Now the Foxes are the champions of England and have a campaign of Champions League football to look forward to – a competition during which they will face many teams of PSG’s outstanding quality. 

“It’s fantastic to be here,” said Morgan. “It’s a lot different from 12 months ago. It’s a pleasure to be in such a prestigious competition like this and play against some of the world’s best teams. 

“We’re enjoying it at the moment so we’re looking forward to the game. We’re in pre-season still, getting our fitness and getting ready for the start of the season.” 

While taking the Premier League trophy around Los Angeles as champions is thoroughly deserved for the Foxes, Morgan was also keen to stress that the team have now set their sights firmly on the new campaign. 

He added: “We had a fantastic season last season and the boys are still buzzing, but we can’t dwell on that. There’s another season ahead and we’re here to work and get a job done. 

“The spirit is there. We’ve new players who have joined the squad and are finding their feet so it’s looking very good.”
