Captain Wes Morgan wants his side to show just why they are champions of England when they take on Celtic at Celtic Park on Saturday in their opening International Champions Cup fixture.

The Foxes’ swashbuckling style of play won many admirers last campaign, and Morgan hopes his men can entertain the Celtic Park crowd against Brendan Rodgers’ outfit.

The fixture will mark the first of three in the International Champions Cup, and while the competition is one Morgan is certainly thrilled to be involved in, the City captain says his team-mates are still focused on upping their fitness levels.

He said: “It’s the first time I’ve played here and I’m looking forward to it very much. It’s a big stadium and they have a big following, so we want to put on a big show and prove what we’re capable of.

“They’ve already played a couple of games and this is our second game of pre season, so we’re still trying to find our fitness still.

“We want to use this as another step towards our goal, which is obviously preparing for the start of the season.

“There’s a balance that’s starting to show between the so called smaller teams and the better teams, so we’re not going to take them lightly and we know it’ll be a tough game.”

Many are looking forward to seeing Claudio Ranieri’s men back in action following their remarkable Premier League triumph, but Morgan says his side are no longer thinking about their incredible achievement.

He added: “The moment in itself at the time was incredible and everyone enjoyed the celebrations and everything that came with it.

“I was away with Jamaica almost straight away and looking back, you always think about it, but you have to put that to one side and get back to work, starting now.

“You can’t dwell on the past. Hopefully there will be a time that we can look back and enjoy that time. But we’ve got to look forward and focus on the new season.”
