Shinji Okazaki has called for focus from Leicester City ahead of the Premier League encounter with Manchester City this weekend following the reverse against FC Porto.

A much-changed Foxes line-up fell to a 5-0 defeat at the Estádio do Dragão on Wednesday night in the knowledge they had already qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 as Group G winners.

Okazaki, speaking to LCFC TV, said the squad remains positive despite the result in Portugal and insists they are fully focussed on the clash with Manchester City at King Power Stadium on Saturday evening (5.30pm kick-off).

The Japanese striker said: “We have a big motivation for the Champions League but tonight we were not as aggressive and Porto are a very good team.

“It was an important match for some players and a good chance for them to show the manager their ability but it was also important for every player.

“We are disappointed with the result. We change our mind and focus on Saturday against Manchester City so we will change for the weekend.”

The match marked a return from injury for midfielder Nampalys Mendy and Okazaki says his inclusion was a boost the City players with a busy Christmas schedule on the horizon.

Okazaki added: “Papy is defensive and aggressive so it is good news for the team to have him back from injury.”

Claudio Ranieri handed a debut to 18-year-old Academy graduate Harvey Barnes from the bench in Porto with the young midfielder being with the Club since he joined as a 9-year-old.

“This is amazing because it is such a good experience for Barnes,” Okazaki continued. “It was a good performance from him and now he needs to keep going.”
