Claudio Ranieri received the LG Performance of the Week award on behalf of Leicester City on Friday afternoon following the thrilling 4-2 victory over Manchester City last weekend.

Jamie Vardy scored a hat-trick while Andy King struck from distance to hand the Foxes a much-needed three points against Pep Guardiola’s title challengers at King Power Stadium on Saturday 10 December.

Ranieri, who masterminded the Club’s 2015/16 Premier League title triumph, was presented with a celebratory bottle of champagne and the award after a five-man panel from the League Managers Association determined the success was worthy of special recognition.

The panel, comprising of Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, all agreed City’s victory was the outstanding result on an eventful weekend in the English top-flight.

Upon receiving the award at Belvoir Drive, Ranieri said: “Thank you to the League Managers Association and LG for this award, but thank you most of all to my players, who made an outstanding performance.”

Speaking after the match, another memorable night at King Power Stadium under the Italian, Ranieri added: “It was special because we wanted to give something different to our fans.

“We haven’t played well so far, so we spoke a lot after Porto (in the UEFA Champions League) and we reacted very well.

“It was important to make this kind of performance against Manchester City because they were so far the best team away in the Premier League.”
