After watching his side come from behind to secure a Premier League point against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, Claudio Ranieri says Leicester City can take confidence from their performance.

Vincent Janssen struck a blow for Spurs just before the half time break with a penalty after Robert Huth was judged to have fouled him inside the area – the striker sending his spot kick down the middle of the goal.

City were both energetic and resilient though and shortly after the second half restarted, Ahmed Musa put his body on the line to reach a Jamie Vardy pass and level the match with his second goal in as many games.

Both sides continued to push for the victory but the game eventually ended 1-1, meaning the Foxes are unbeaten in their previous three games heading into a UEFA Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen on Wednesday.

“I’m very pleased with our performance. It was fantastic,” Ranieri told LCFC TV at full-time. We found our team spirit that was so good last season. The players made a fantastic effort with a single spirit. It was a fantastic performance and well done to my players.

“Tottenham is one of the best teams. They are fighting to win the title and they were our strong rivals last season. They are fighting for the title and we want to do the same. I think our fans and the Tottenham fans enjoyed it a lot because until the end both teams tried to win the match.

“This is our philosophy – to try to win all the matches. I speak about spirit because one thing is spirit and another thing is how you play football, but when you play with a strong team spirit, the performance is always good.

“This result gives us a lot of confidence and energy but now we have another tough match [against FC Copenhagen on Wednesday].”
