Report: Chesterfield 3 LCFC XI 1

- Goals from Ched Evans, Gary Liddle and Jay O’Shea secured the win for a strong Spireites side 

- Ben Hamer, Ritchie De Laet, Liam Moore, Gokhan Inler and Tom Lawrence all featured in the loss at the Proact Stadium 

Leicester City’s Development Squad tasted defeat for the first time this pre season, as Chesterfield recorded a 3-1 victory at the Proact Stadium on Tuesday evening. 

The Foxes had already beaten Ilkeston, Fakenham Town and Nuneaton Town during pre season, before drawing 1-1 with Sheffield Wednesday last time out. 

Much like the encounter with Sheffield Wednesday, first teamers Ben Hamer, Ritchie De Laet, Liam Moore, Gokhan Inler and Tom Lawrence all notched up some valuable pre-season minutes. 

City started positively, first going close through Admiral Muskwe, before eventually taking the lead with 24 minutes on the clock. 

Chesterfield responded well, with Sylvain Ebanks-Blake firing off target from inside the box, while Laurence Maguire nodded just wide of the mark. 

The hosts eventually found an equaliser early in the second half, as striker Ched Evans headed in Paul McGinn’s pin-point cross on 54 minutes. 

And the Spireites took the lead just six minutes later, as Gary Liddle converted Derek Daly’s delivery to make it 2-1 just after the hour mark. 

Danny Wilson’s men then rounded off the scoring with just over 10 minutes to play from the penalty spot, with Jay O’Shea dispatching from 12 yards to secure the win for Chesterfield.
