Jamie Vardy concluded Leicester City’s representation on the international stage by netting in England’s 2-2 friendly draw with Spain on Tuesday night.

Having featured as a late substitute during England’s 3-0 2018 World Cup qualifying victory over Scotland on Friday, Vardy started the fixture against Julen Lopetegui’s outfit.

City’s No.9 made an immediate impact, winning a penalty which Adam Lallana converted after just nine minutes, before heading in early on in the second period for his fifth goal for the Three Lions.

But late strikes from Iago Aspas and Isco snatched a draw for Spain, despite a commanding performance from the hosts and an impressive one from the Foxes frontman.

Vardy proved to be one of nine senior City players in action over the international break, with three of them taking to the same pitch on Saturday.

Striker Ahmed Musa featured for Nigeria in their 3-1 African World Cup qualifying victory over Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani’s Algeria in Group B.

Another forward that notched up more caps for his nation was Shinji Okazaki, who came off the bench during Japan’s wins over Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, young winger Demarai Gray scored his second goal for England Under-21s in three games, as he helped them to a 3-2 victory over Italy at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Ghanaian duo Daniel Amartey and Jeffrey Schlupp both made appearances for the Black Stars, who were beaten 2-0 by Egypt in an African World Cup qualifier. Amartey played 90 minutes, while Schlupp came on with 20 minutes to play in Alexandria.

On Monday, Bartosz Kapustka, completed over 70 minutes for Poland during their 1-1 international friendly draw with Slovenia.

Development Squad winger Faiq Bolkiah also saw international involvement for Brunei Darassalam, who finished their 2016 AFC Solidarity Cup campaign in fourth position following a narrow third-placed play-off defeat to Laos.

Finally, Academy youngster Kyle Gruno will have no doubt gained some valuable experience after training with USA’s Under-18s squad at the National Training Camp in Sunrise, Florida.
