Morgan's Pride At Thailand Trip

Leading the Leicester City team back to Thailand later this month will be a big moment for skipper Wes Morgan, who still can’t forget the reception the Thai people gave them in May.
After captaining the team to a historic Championship title success and promotion to the Barclays Premier League last season, the squad jetted out to Thailand, the home of City’s parent company, King Power International, to celebrate their success with the growing number of City fans in the Kingdom.

Now, with a mouthwatering clash against Everton to play in Bangkok on 27 July as part of a six-day trip to Thailand, Morgan is desperate to thank the Thai people for their support by putting on a show against the Toffees at Supachalasai National Stadium.

Reflecting back on what was an unforgettable trip to Thailand with the squad in May, Morgan said: “When we went there after winning the title I can honestly say it was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had as a footballer.

“We were lucky enough to celebrate with our fans in England before we left and we didn’t really know what to expect in Thailand before we arrived. So to see so many Leicester City shirts and to have had the support that we did over there made it feel like home. It really blew us away.

“The fans in Thailand certainly left a lasting impression on us, and as soon as we found out we’d be coming back to play Everton in Bangkok the lads were immediately looking forward to it.

“It’ll be a special match that for us will form a crucial part of our pre-season preparations, and of course we all know it’s the 25th anniversary of King Power International, who treated us wonderfully when we went over in May.

“Our owners have been brilliant and we were delighted to win promotion for them because everyone can see that they’ve put so much into the Club. I know me and all of the lads will be giving it our all for them and for the manager when we face Everton.”

The Foxes also face the Toffees on the opening day of the league season at King Power Stadium on 16 August, and Morgan will most definitely be keeping an eye on how the opposition line up.

He added: “It’s funny how we’re playing them in our first league game, and even though we know they could be completely different in the league I’ll be paying close attention to the strikers for any advantage I can use on the opening weekend.

“We know it’ll be tough. They’re a team that will probably be pushing for a Champions League place next season, but these are the games that you want to play in as a footballer. If anything, testing ourselves against them this early might help us to get rid of some of those opening day nerves.”
