Winter Wonderland Returns Tomorrow!

King Power Stadium will again be transformed into a ‘Winter Wonderland’ this weekend, as the home of Leicester City becomes one of the centrepieces of Leicestershire’s festive celebrations.

On the weekend of 8/9 December, the stadium will host a variety of exciting family attractions, including a giant ice rink, which will be open to both Leicester City supporters and the general public as we celebrate the arrival of the most wonderful time of the year.

Following the huge success of last season’s one-day event against Peterborough United, which welcomed over 25,000 people through the doors, this year looks set to be even bigger as the Winter Wonderland becomes a bumper ‘Winter Wonderland Weekender’.

Saturday will be exclusively open, free of charge, to supporters attending the day’s npower Championship match against Barnsley (11am-3pm), before the doors are opened to the general public on Sunday (10am-4pm). Admission to the ice rink will be through a donation to the LCFC Foxes Foundation (£2 for Adults and £1 for Under-18s) and all other Winter Wonderland attractions will be free.

This year’s exciting list of attractions includes:

Giant ice rink; live reindeer; festive food and drink; Snow Globe; Giant Snowman; Toboggan; Rodeo Reindeer ride; Carousel; live brass band.

The Winter Wonderland will also be paid a visit by a number of Leicester City legends, Club Ambassador Alan Birchenall and, of course, City’s much-loved mascot, Filbert Fox.

Leicester City’s Chief Executive Officer Susan Whelan said: “Last season’s Winter Wonderland welcomed a magnificent number of people to King Power Stadium in what proved a great way celebrate the festive season.

“It was that response from supporters that helped us to decide to make this an even more inclusive occasion and a weekend for the whole of Leicestershire to enjoy.

“It’s our chance to give something back to the community and thank the whole region for its support throughout the year and I’m sure it will be another weekend to remember.”
