Albrighton's Rallying Call

Winger Marc Albrighton is desperate to help Leicester City return to winning ways in the Barclays Premier League against Swansea after making his full debut against Newcastle last weekend.
The former Aston Villa man was part of the side that were narrowly edged out 1-0 in the north east by the Magpies, although the Foxes created plenty of opportunities – Albrighton himself striking the upright in the first half.

But with plenty of promise in the performance, Albrighton is determined to push on and end the run of three games without a win at what he acknowledges is one of the toughest places to go to in the league.

“Obviously I’ve been chomping at the bit to play,” said Albrighton, speaking exclusively to Foxes Player. “It’s been a frustrating time but it was a good opportunity to play at the weekend. I enjoyed it, it’s just a shame that the result went against us and hopefully we can put that right at the weekend.

“I don’t think we deserved to lose the game. I think we deserved at least a point out of it, but that’s the thing in this league, you get punished if you don’t take your chances. We had a couple that we could have taken and on another day it could have been different.”

Garry Monk’s Swansea started the season brilliantly – winning their opening three fixtures – but are now without a victory in five following a 2-1 loss to Stoke City last time out.

However they are notoriously hard to beat on home turf, with only Southampton emerging victorious from the Liberty Stadium so far this term.

Albrighton added: “They’ll pass the ball all day long and try to keep possession, but they are a threat going forward. We’ve got to be on our toes and everybody has got to pull together and work hard.

“If we get in their faces and stop them playing football then we’ve got a very good chance.

“I’m hoping I’ve done enough to get in the team again this weekend. We’ll have to wait and see, but the competition for places is brilliant at the minute.

“Everyone is chomping at the bit in training to try to get that place in the starting XI at the weekend, and hopefully I’ll be there.”
