Academy Youngsters Star For England

Two members of Leicester City’s Academy helped get England’s Under-17s off to a flyer in the Nordic Tournament on Monday with a 5-1 triumph over Iceland in Denmark.
Promising Academy defender Darnell Johnson came off the bench to play the in the second half, while a ruthless attacking display that included to excellent goals from fellow City youngster Admiral Muskwe certainly caught the eye. 

Liverpool’s Yan Dhanda had given England the early advantage, before turning provider in the 37th minute to tee up City man Muskwe with a clever ball over the right back. 

Muskwe took the ball on confidently and despite the narrow angle, was able to guide an exquisite finish with the outside of his right foot beyond the goalkeeper for 2-0. 

Tottenham’s Marcus Edwards then added a quickfire double to make it four, while Muskwe also grabbed his second with a tidy finish just before the hour mark, putting England well in control at 5-0. 

Iceland’s Dagur Hilmarsson did manage to grab a consolation from a corner as the game wore on, but England had done more than enough and saw out the game comfortably.

The pair were again in action on Tuesday, as England drew 1-1 against Finland in their second group game, with Johnson starting in defence and Muskwe introduced as a second half substitute.
