Futacs Expecting Blackpool Battle

Marko Futacs has called on the help of the Blue Army this Saturday, as the Foxes bid to strike the first blow on Blackpool’s perfect start to the season.

City striker Marko Futacs has called on the help of the Blue Army this Saturday, as the Foxes bid to strike the first blow on Blackpool’s perfect start to the npower Championship season.

Ian Holloway’s Seasiders will be defending a 100-per-cent record when they arrive at King Power Stadium on Saturday evening (kick-off 5.20pm), having won all three of their opening league games among a flurry of goals.

But Hungarian Futacs, a summer signing from Portsmouth, says the Foxes faithful can play a big part in helping City overcome the league leaders.

“I think it’s a very important game for us, we need to win it so it’s going to be a battle,” Marko said ahead of the game.

“Hopefully the fans will be in good spirits and they can get behind us as soon as the game begins.

“It will be an attacking game and the first goal will be important, but if we get our performance right it is a game we can win.”

Having missed the opening four games of the season due to a knee injury, the 6ft 5in target-man made his Foxes debut as a substitute in Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup defeat to Burton Albion, scoring a fine goal in the closing stages.

Futacs, 22, admits picking up a knock in pre-season was not an ideal start to his City career, but is looking forward to showing the different dimension he can offer to Nigel Pearson’s attacking options.

“I’m happy that I wasn’t out for too long, but of course when you come back you feel a bit different,” he said.

“During pre-season I was fit and feeling fine, but now I have to build my fitness from the games I’m involved in.

“I think I do offer something different and I think that’s why the gaffer brought me here. This is my job, so I have to try to impress him and get into the team.

“I have to work hard, do everything well and show the differences between me and the other strikers in the best way. If I have to change something or change a game in the last 20 minutes then that’s what I have to do.

“Goals make a big difference so if I can score I am sure everyone will be happy with that!”
