Big Improvement For Schmeichel

Leicester City shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel says he was happy to register his first clean sheet of the season but knows his side need to score more goals in order to add to their points tally.

The Danish goalkeeper made several fine saves to deny Sunderland in their goalless draw at King Power Stadium on Saturday, denying the opposition frontline on a number of occasions and playing a big part in the Foxes ending their four-game losing streak.
Schmeichel believes his side are still adjusting to the Barclays Premier League but hopes City can start finding the back of the net again after a blistering start to the campaign.
“Defensively I thought we were solid,” said the City No.1. “Keeping a clean sheet is always nice but we’ve got to put the ball in the net. I thought we looked more dangerous than we have done for a couple of games today but ultimately it’s about scoring goals and winning games.
“You make your own luck, and the only way we’re going to start winning games is by playing like we did today. I thought we played really well in parts and created some good chances – their ‘keeper made some good saves – so if we do keep playing like that we’ll start picking up some more points.
“Clean sheets in the Premier League are difficult – there’s no question you’re up against top quality strikers. They had their chances but it was a good defensive performance.
“It was always going to be difficult. We had some good results at the start but we always knew that when coming into a league like the Premier League, you’re going to need time to adjust.”
Despite not netting since the 2-2 draw with Burnley in October, Schmeichel remains optimistic about the season ahead, calling for a patient attitude ahead of a tough period for the Club.
He added: “There’s going to be periods that are going to be difficult, and you’ve got to have patience. You’ve got to have the will to keep going and keep plugging away even though the breaks aren’t quite going for you.
"I thought we might have had a penalty, and on another day that might have been the break that we get – we didn’t get it today, but if we keep doing the right things, it’ll come.
“A lot of the players are new to the Premier League – it’s a different type of team with a different tempo. We’re getting there slowly, and I’ve got every confidence in our team.
“We’ve been together for a long time. We know each other inside out, and we all know that we’re capable.”
