Blue Army Key At West Brom For Schmeichel

Kasper Schmeichel says there is a good feeling around the Club going into the weekend’s Barclays Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
Both supporters and players alike have remained defiant in the face of a tough run of results, and spirits were certainly lifted last weekend when the Foxes put West Ham United to the sword with a 2-1 win at King Power Stadium.

There are plenty more points required if Nigel Pearson’s side are to retain their Premier League status for next season, but Schmeichel feels that with the Blue Army on board, anything is possible.

“When you’ve got very vocal backing and your hear the fans with the support they give you, it always give you a boost,” said Schmeichel. “You just saw on Saturday that the atmosphere we had at the game was amazing and spurred the lads on.

“We responded and got a win. We were buzzing with the result but especially with the support.

“It’s great. That’s what you’re in football for, to win games. The feeling around the Club and the fans with the way they feel when you wins games, it’s amazing and amazing to feel part of as a player. To feel like you’ve contributed to that is fantastic.”

Looking to dampen City’s survival hopes on Saturday will be a West Bromwich Albion side hoping to earn the win that could strengthen their claim for a spot in the division next term.

With 33 points, things are looking good for the Baggies, and Schmeichel knows they will be a dangerous opponent – particularly on the back of a 4-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

He said: “It’ll be a tough game. Any game in which you come up against a Tony Pulis side, you’re coming up against a tough opponent – well drilled and organised.

“Obviously them getting beat at the weekend will mean they’re hurting and the manager will be wanting a reaction to that.

“We look at the game we played against them earlier in the season and it took, it’s fair to say quite a lucky own goal for them to beat us.

“I think we dealt quite well with them, but we’re at a different stage of the season now on their patch and obviously they’ll be looking to be on the front foot, get forward and win the game. We’re expecting a tough game, but we’re looking forward to it.”
