Competitive Nature Thrills McCourt

After marshalling the Development Squad’s midfield in their Barclays U21 Premier League draw with Manchester United, Jak McCourt says his side can compete against anyone given their current form.

Steve Beaglehole’s outfit took an early lead against the Red Devils at King Power Stadium on Monday through St. Kitts and Nevis international Harry Panayiotou, who scored his ninth goal in his last nine games in all competitions.
But the men in red, backed by a wealth of talent including Robin van Persie, Rafael and Adnan Januzaj, equalised shortly after through Sean Goss to ensure the game finished 1-1.
And while a victory would have moved the Foxes to top spot in the U21 Premier League, McCourt believes the draw against the Red Devils turned out to be a valuable point in their late charge for the title.
“The lads played really well,” McCourt told Foxes Player. “We played some decent football in the first half. We came in at the break at 1-1, but I thought we should have been in the lead going into the second half.
“We came out and started well again. To be fair, it could have gone either way with the chances that both teams had, but it’s not a bad result.
“When we saw their team we knew it was going to be a tough game with the experience that they had out, but we’re more than capable of competing against anyone with the form that we’re in.”
The Foxes’ form in recent weeks has been nothing short of astounding. They have lost just once in their last in 12 games in all competitions.
The run has seen them move just two points off the top of the table, while also qualifying for the semi-finals of the Premier League International Cup.
McCourt added: “A few weeks ago, we discussed that at the start of the season our aim was to stay in the top flight, but with the form we’re in, we’re right up there.
“We just need to keep doing what we’ve been doing. We’ve been playing some great football.”
