Defender Ritchie De Laet says Leicester City’s positive pre-season campaign has played a key part in his side’s superb start to the 2015/16 Barclays Premier League season.

The Foxes have beaten both Sunderland and West Ham United in their opening two fixtures and next entertain Tottenham Hotspur at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

City have added six players this summer, as Robert Huth, Christian Fuchs, Shinji Okazaki, Yohan Benalouane, N’Golo Kanté and most recently Gökhan Inler have all joined the Foxes ranks.

And De Laet believes that those new additions have gelled well, allowing Claudio Ranieri’s men to get off to a perfect start in England’s top flight.

“It’s been great,” De Laet told Foxes Player HD. “It’s nice to get points on the board already. We had a good start last season so we can’t get carried away with ourselves. We have to perform every Saturday now and keep getting the points.

“We had a good pre-season altogether. I think most of the signings that have come in have come in early, so that helps us – going on the pre-season camp with the new lads.

“As you’ve seen, Shinji starting up front has been unbelievable for us in the two games. We’re just working all week long on the opponent, knowing what we can do best so we can perform on the Saturday.”

City next host a Tottenham side that are yet to register a win this season, but De Laet emphasised the importance of a patient start against a highly-rated London outfit that certainly remain a threat.

He added: “It’s another tough game, but we’re playing at home and our home form is important so we’ll have a good attitude. We want to win the game.

“You always have to be patient. You don’t want to do anything daft in the game. The first 10 minutes, like always, we’ll cancel each other out a bit. They’ll see what we’re about and we’ll see what they’re about.”
