Lawrence Nets First Rotherham Goal

Leicester City winger Tom Lawrence scored his first goal for Rotherham United on Saturday as his side beat Wigan Athletic 2-1 at the DW Stadium.

The young Welshman, currently on a one-month loan deal at the Millers, scored from close-range on the 40 minute mark before Ben Watson equalised for the Latics in the second half.
Rotherham only had to wait a minute after the leveller to find their second as Alex Revell scored the winner, helping the Club to a first Championship win since October.
Lawrence, who signed from Manchester United in the summer, also played in the goalless draw with Nottingham Forest a week earlier.
Lawrence’s side host Huddersfield on Boxing Day knowing a win could take them as high as 16th in the league.
In League 1, Development Squad midfielder Michael Cain, who recently signed a one-month loan extension with Walsall, set up his side’s first goal in a 3-1 win over Barnsley on Saturday 13 December.
The Tykes took the lead in the first half through Lewin Nyatanga but Walsall equalised immediately through Jordan Cook. Tom Bradshaw made it 2-1 before the break while Cook added a third in injury time to seal the win.
Cain has gone on to become an instrumental part of the Saddlers outfit, also playing 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday.
The youngster will hope to help his side to a win over Swindon Town on Boxing Day before a tough trip to second-placed MK Dons two days later.
Over in League 2, young striker Jacob Blyth created Burton Albion’s fourth goal in their 4-0 win over Hartlepool on Saturday 13 December.
A double from Alex MacDonald and goals from Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Stuart Beavon sealed the victory for Jimmy Floyd Hassebaink’s men before Blyth played 90 minutes in a goalless draw with Southend a week later.
The Brewers will look to make it four games unbeaten in League 2 when they host second from bottom Tranmere on Friday before travelling to Accrington on Sunday.
Right-back James Pearson notched up another appearance for Conference Premier outfit Wrexham in their 3-1 defeat to Dartford on Saturday.
Goals from Elliot Bradbrook, Rory McAuley and Tom Bradbrook secured the win for the visitors, while Louis Moult scored Wrexham’s goal.
The Development Squad defender, who recently extended his loan period to another month, played 90 minutes in the loss for the Welsh club.
Wrexham next face Southport on Boxing Day before hosting Forest Green on Sunday 28 December at the Racecourse Ground.
Under-21s forward trio Adam Dawson, Marcel Barrington and Simonas Stankevicius were also in action for Nuneaton Town in their 2-0 loss to Halifax on Saturday.
Nuneaton were reduced to 10 men just after the hour mark when James Armson saw red. Goalless at that point, Halifax went on to score through James Bolton and Lois Maynard.
While Dawson played a full game, both Barrington and Stankevicius came on as late substitutes in the defeat.
Nuneaton will hope to get their season back on track on Boxing Day when they host Telford at the James Parnell Stadium before a trip to Altrincham two days later.
Goalkeeper Conrad Logan has continued his fine form in a Rochdale shirt, making three more appearances for the Club.
A 4-1 League 1 win over Colchester United was quickly followed by an FA Cup Second Round victory over Aldershot Town by the same scoreline.
However, Logan came off injured on 22 minutes in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Notts County on Saturday in League 1.
Midfielder Paul Gallagher has also gone on to help Preston North End with their League One campaign.
The former Blackburn Rovers man played 90 minutes in the Lilywhites’ 1-1 draw with fellow high-fliers MK Dons on Saturday 13 December and went on to play an hour in his side’s 1-0 win over Peterborough United a week later.
Gallagher will hope to be involved in the Lancashire club’s Boxing Day clash with Barnsley before a trip to Crewe on Sunday 28 December.
