Leicester City’s stunning 4-0 victory over Swansea City at King Power Stadium on Sunday has earned them the LG Performance of the Week Award.

The Foxes stormed to their biggest win of the season thanks to a Leonardo Ulloa double and goals from Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton.

The League Managers Association’s five-man panel, compromising of LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, subsequently named the victory as the LG Performance of the Week Award.

City manager Claudio Ranieri received a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Ranieri told Foxes Player HD after the win: “I’m very delighted and happy with our performance, with our character and we showed very good team spirit.

“Without Jamie Vardy, everybody gave a little more to show a team performance. It was good. We scored an early goal with our pressing and we scored a second with a set play.

“Then we started the second half at 0-0. In our mind it was 0-0 and we scored twice again. It was a great performance so well done to my players.

“We have a team. I asked from the beginning of the season we have to play as 11. I don’t know if other teams play 11, but for us it’s very important to play as 11. Together we help each other with a big heart and we showed this.”

The win saw City extend their advantage at the top of the table, meaning a victory at Manchester United on Sunday could see them crowned Barclays Premier League champions for the first time in their 132-year history.
