Pearson: For Our Fans

The most recent of those – a 1-0 success over Burnley thanks to a Jamie Vardy strike – propelled Pearson’s charges up to the safety of 17th in the league. However with five games still to play and just one point separating City and Sunderland below them, much work is still to be done. 

For much of the season the Foxes have struggled to turn what have been widely acknowledged as good performances into points, and Pearson is delighted that the faith from the stands is now seeing a reward. 

“I’m pleased for our fans,” he told Foxes Player. “It’s always nice when you get results against competitors who are in a similar situation to ourselves, but the fans have stayed behind the players all season, and that’s important. 

“I think hopefully they recognise that the team are giving everything they have got, regardless of what the results are. 

“At the moment things are going our way and I think I’ve said often enough that when results haven’t gone our way, that the players are giving everything. That’s going to be vital for us from here on in as well. 

“But it’s not just about because we’ve won the game against Burnley. I’ve said it so many times and I’m pleased for the players too because they’ve been able to get rewards for putting in different types of performances. 

“The bottom line is we’ve got to win enough games. We’ve given ourselves a better chance of surviving now because of another result, but we’ve got to keep doing it. 

“We’ve got an extra day to recover before we go into the Chelsea game on Wednesday, but then we’ve got to keep an eye on that game and the next game at home against Newcastle, which is very important for us as well.”
