Claudio Ranieri believes the Club’s fans will have no doubt enjoyed seeing Leicester City sitting top of the Barclays Premier League this week, but has called for focus ahead of Saturday’s game.

Manchester United visit King Power Stadium in the day’s late kick-off in an encounter that will certainly evoke some fond memories from the corresponding fixture last season.

The Foxes were 3-1 down with an hour gone, but a stunning second-half fight back saw them emerge as 5-3 winners in one of the most thrilling games of 2014/15.

That result came in September and while a victory at Stoke City followed shortly after, the Foxes wouldn’t go on to win in the Premier League until December – now, City occupy first position in England’s top flight.

While there will be a natural divide in opinions as to whether Ranieri’s outfit can maintain their excellent start, the City boss promised that his side will continue to work hard for the Club’s fans.

“I can understand everybody in this moment who say yes Leicester can remain at the top or say no, Leicester is just one moment,” said Ranieri.

“I’m very happy with the fans because I think this week they’ve enjoyed it a lot and this is good for us. We work so hard for them and we are very glad to make this for our fans. After this, focus.”

Ranieri’s philosophy of allowing his attackers to play without pressure up front has certainly paid dividends.

The Foxes are the Premier League’s highest scorers having netted 28 times in just 13 games, but their lofty league position will not force Ranieri to change his target of 40 points.

“It’s important I want to bring all the pressure and leave free my players,” Ranieri added.

“For this season I say okay, we start the season and have our goal. We achieve this and I’ll speak with my players.”
