Ranieri Seeks Cup Progression

- Foxes head to the KC Stadium in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup 

- City will have the maximum backing of the Blue Army Leicester City manager 

Claudio Ranieri is targeting Capital One Cup progression when his side take on Hull City in the fourth round the KC Stadium on Tuesday evening. 

The Foxes have lost just once all season during a superb string of results that included Capital One Cup wins against Bury and West Ham United in previous rounds. 

Joe Dodoo’s hat-trick sealed a 4-1 triumph at Bury’s Gigg Lane in August, while Andy King’s extra-time header at King Power Stadium against the Hammers saw City emerge as 2-1 winners in September. 

“I’d like to go through,” Ranieri said. “I know very well that Hull City is a difficult match for us. They’re second in the league. In 2014 they got to the final of the FA Cup and they lost against Arsenal. I think it’ll be a good match. We want to win of course, but they will be a very good team. 

“It’s good, the feeling between us and our fans and we want to continue to improve this feeling. Only with a victory you can improve. We respect Hull City a lot and I respect Steve [Bruce] a lot. We are very focused on this match. 

“We have to make a very good match if we want to beat them because it won’t be an easy match. It will be another tough match. In my opinion they’re a Premier League team and it’ll be a very good battle there.” 

The Foxes will have the maximum backing of the Blue Army again at the KC Stadium and Ranieri believes that will certainly spur his players on Tuesday evening. 

“The team spirit is high because when you make this kind of performance that we did so far [this season], it’s good. 

“The spirit, the confidence, the electricity between everybody and also our fantastic fans is very, very good.”
