Danny Simpson has vowed that Leicester City will pick themselves up quickly after suffering just their second Barclays Premier League defeat of the season at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday.

The Foxes went down 1-0 at Anfield after substitute Christian Benteke’s second half strike but following a surprise 4-0 loss for Arsenal away at Southampton, Claudio Ranieri’s men clung on to top spot.

It was a tight encounter against Jurgen Klopp’s Reds at Anfield, who did well to match the Foxes’ energy in key areas and shut down the space for both Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in the final third.

It was a game plan that paid off for the home side, but it’s not a defeat that sits well with the squad, who were keen to extend their 10-game unbeaten run with yet another away victory.

<div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“I think you’ve got to give them credit,” Simpson told Foxes Player HD. “I think after their result last week, they were angry and they reacted. From minute one we were under pressure but at the back we were soaking it up. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“It was tough but it’s been a tough few weeks. We know we’ll pick ourselves up. We’re an honest bunch, we’ll look at it and we’ll react in the right way against Manchester City. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“I just think every single one of them worked their socks off and they pressed us in every area of the pitch. I don’t think Kasper [Schmeichel] had a lot to do I just think they managed to stop what we’ve been doing so well. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“That high intensity and that work rate – it’s the least you can do but it’s what they expect. We knew what to expect and that’s what happened.” </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >Next up for the Foxes is another formidable test in the form of Manchester City at King Power Stadium on Tuesday night, but Simpson knows that the City squad is resilient enough to respond to defeat. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div ><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">“It’s 1-0 and we’re devastated but we’ve just got to keep going. It’s a setback but we’ll bounce back. We’ve got a great team with great characters and great spirit. We’ve got City at home now and with our fans, we’ll get straight at them.”</span></span></div><div ><a href="http://www.player.lcfc.com" target="_blank"><img xlink:href="tcm:0-2692753" title="PlayerHD2015_Banner" alt="PlayerHD2015_Banner" style="width: 480px; height: 100px;" /></a><br /></div>
