U18s Report: Chelsea 5 Leicester City 0

Leicester City’s Under-18s were beaten by Barclays U18 Premier League leaders Chelsea at Cobham Training Centre on Saturday. 

The young Foxes returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Brighton and Hove Albion last time out thanks to strikes from Josh Eppiah, Toby Fura and Admiral Muskwe. 

Heading into the game, Chelsea were unbeaten in eight games and sat top of the U18 Premier League table after 14 games. 

In fine form, the London outfit proved too strong for City as they found themselves 3-0 up at the break following a double from Ike Ugbo and a strike from Jacob Maddox. 

Chelsea extended their lead after half-time through goals from Mason Mount and substitute Charlie Wakefield, eventually running out 5-0 winners. 

Speaking to LCFC.com after the game, Under-18s manager Trevor Peake said: “Before the game we said that we had to be at our best, but we found it tough to create chances and keep possession. 

“Chelsea are a very good team. They’re constantly scoring goals week in, week out, so it was a good test, but we didn’t come through it as well as we would have liked. 

“They’ve now scored 50 goals in 15 games so we’re not alone in going down to Chelsea and having a hard time. 

“It’s a really open league – there’s no easy opponents in it. We face Norwich next and they play some decent football.”
