Leicester City’s Under-18s suffered only their second defeat of the 2015/16 Barclays U18 Premier League season after being beaten by a defiant Swansea City side at Belvoir Drive on Saturday.

The young Foxes were unbeaten in six games and sat second in the table heading into the clash, while bottom-of-the-league Swansea were without a win this term.

City had already beaten the Swans 2-1 on the first day of the season thanks to an own goal and a strike from Josh Knight, but Trevor Peake’s outfit couldn’t break down their resilient defence on Saturday.

A solitary strike from defender Aaron Lewis after just 10 minutes proved to be enough for the Welsh club to earn all three points, despite Leicester peppering the opposition goalmouth in the second period.

Under-18s manager Peake told LCFC.com after the game: “We didn’t really start the game very well, whether that was a bit of overconfidence I don’t know. We conceded after about 10 minutes and weren’t really creating until we came in at the break and spoke to the players.

“We came out a better team in the second half and dominated but ran out of time. The clock was ticking and we just couldn’t quite produce. That’s been our strength this season really, so that’s quite a rare occurrence.

“We created numerous chances in the second half. It was a mixture of some good saves and some good defending to keep us out.

“It’s not a bad thing because although it’s a knock towards trying to finish as high as we can in the league table, the lads haven’t had that losing feeling too much, playing a team who are a trying to run the clock down, so it’ll test their character.

“We lost to Chelsea earlier on in the season, so this is only our second taste of defeat. We’ll be able to see how they react against Fulham.”

City take on Fulham in the U18 Premier League at Motspur Park next Saturday before a home fixture against West Ham United at Belvoir Drive the following week.
