U18s Report: Leicester City 0 West Ham United 2
- Tunji Akinola and Noha Sylvestre on target for West Ham United
- Young Foxes return to Barclays U18 Premier League action against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday 21 November
West Ham United netted twice in quick succession to record a Barclays U18 Premier League victory over Leicester City’s Under-18s at Belvoir Drive on Saturday.
The Foxes headed into the clash on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Swansea City, while the Hammers were beaten 2-1 by Tottenham Hotspur last time out.
City were flying high in the U18 Premier League table and were looking to build on their impressive start to the 2015/16 campaign, with the ultimate aim of finishing in the top four.
West Ham proved to be a formidable opponent, though. On 20 minutes Tunji Akinola headed in from Matt Carter’s corner to put the visitors 1-0 up.
City shot-stopper Max Bramley then denied Grady Diangana from the spot, but could do nothing about Noha Sylvestre’s effort shortly after.
The Hammers captain converted from inside the box, and despite City putting in a spirited second-half performance, they couldn’t break down a resilient West Ham defence.
The young Foxes return to U18 Premier League action on Saturday 21 November, when they head to Brighton and Hove Albion.
