U18s Report: West Ham United 0 Leicester City 2

Leicester City’s Under-18s rounded off their 2014/15 Barclays U18 Premier League season with a victory at West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Harvey Barnes and Admiral Muskwe secured the young Foxes their first away win in the league since the 2-0 triumph over Fulham back in November.

Leicester could have taken the lead early on when Danny Rowe fired just inches wide, before Max Smith-Varnham denied Joe Powell at the other end.

City broke the deadlock just before half-time. Pinching the ball in midfield, Keenan King then slipped past Ross Elsom before teeing up Barnes, who finished well past goalkeeper Sam Howes.

Smith-Varnham pulled off another fine save from Powell just before the break, tipping the forward’s header just over the bar to keep his side’s lead intact.

Defenders Cedric Kipre and Elliot Percival both went close in the second period, but it was Muskwe who would wrap up the three points for Trevor Peake’s outfit late on.

The young striker controlled well with his first touch, turned and finished with power past Howes to make it 2-0 in injury time.

The result capped a wonderful season for the Club’s youngsters, who put in some excellent performances in the U18 Premier League, as well as making it to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
